2019 SHIRAZ CABERNET

2019 SHIRAZ CABERNET

Tasting Notes

Deep, inky black in the glass, the 2018 vintage immediately commands attention. It boasts layers of dark fruit, ripe plum, mulberry, and blackcurrant—alongside hints of cocoa, licorice, and dried fig. Subtle notes of fresh mint and tobacco leaf add complexity, while a fine thread of toasted French oak provides depth and structure. Bold yet refined on the palate, this wine's powerful fruit core is framed by supple tannins. A lingering finish of dark chocolate, spice, and a touch of cedar ensures this wine leaves a lasting impression. This wine is built to age and this 2018 vintage is a true expression of its exceptional season.

VINTAGE CONDITIONS Good winter rains and a warm spring resulted in a fantastic start to vintage. A series of very warm weather events put pressure on the early growing season, but the well managed vineyards made it a through. A vintage of two halves; the first half of heat waves put pressure on winemakers and viticulturists alike, the second half
significantly cooler which allowed fruit to be picked at the optimum flavour ripeness.

VINEYARD SELECTION Selected for their potential to deliver super premium fruit, only the most concentrated and expressive blocks are considered for this blend. The Shiraz component is predominately from Wrattonbully where rich but shallow soils promote balance and intensity, matched with the Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon known for its
intensity and complexity. This wine is only produced in selected vintages.
